Developmental Milestones

What is developmental screening?

Children develop rapidly between the ages of 0-5! Developmental screening gives us a quick check of your child’s development and can help to identify your child’s strengths and needs. Your child’s doctor or your early learning provider may have completed one with you as well.

The developmental screening tool we use is called the Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ-3). This parent-completed questionnaire will look at your child’s growth in areas such as:

  • Communication – speaking or being understood by people outside of your family
  • Cognition – understanding what other people say
  • Movement – crawling, walking, running
  • Independence – eating, drinking, dressing, toileting
  • Playing
  • Behavior and problem-solving skills
